JOB SUMMARY
Performs diagnostic nuclear medicine clinical imaging as prescribed by physicians using radiopharmaceuticals for imaging under the direction of a qualified Radiologist and supervision of the Imaging Department Director. With the assistance and guidance of a qualified nuclear physicist assures department compliance with all state and NRC qualifications.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Operates gamma camera within the NM department selecting technical factors and proper doses of radioisotopes to ensure high-quality, studies.
Assists in maintaining gamma and employed equipment in proper working condition. Reports malfunctions and necessary repairs to supervisory personnel.
Receives and reviews requests for nuclear studies.
Explains and prepares the patient for all nuclear studies.
Relies on extensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and effects of disease processes to properly and safely position the patient for maximum diagnostic yield.
Maintains customers' rights (confidentiality, privacy, safety, security, and decision making)
Documents all radioisotope usage and disposal in the NMIS software program.
Is proficient in operation of Capintec Dose calibrator and Captus thyroid uptake machine.
REQUIRED MINIMUN EDUCATION
Vocational Technical Degree
REQUIRED LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS
Virginia Radiation Operator License; AART; NMTCB; BLS

MINIMUN QUALIFICATIONS
Basic knowledge of radioactive materials and how they pertain to Nuclear Medicine. Demonstrates proper operation of gamma cameras, PET/CT scanner, dose calibrator, well, uptake probe and Geiger counter. Knowledge of how the PACS system works acquired through on-the-job training.
